The Troup Lady Tigers have taken the court five times for a region game, and they’ve come up short each time.
They’ll try to reverse that trend when they host the Shaw Lady Raiders today in a Region 5-AAAA game.
Although the Lady Tigers (1-11) lost to the LaGrange Lady Grangers Friday night, it was their most competitive region game.
Troup ended up losing 52-37, but it was a four-point game early in the fourth period.
The Lady Tigers cut their deficit to 35-31 early in the fourth period on an Akhya Mitchell basket, but they were outscored 17-6 the rest of the way.
Today could offer the Lady Tigers a great chance to get their first win, and snap an 11-game losing streak.
Shaw (1-16) is 0-6 in the region, and like Troup, its only win this came against Harris County.
A year ago, Troup won two games, and both victories came against Shaw.
Also today, the Troup Tigers (5-7 overall) will look to improve on their 1-4 region record when they host Shaw.
Friday night against LaGrange, Troup was within five early in the third period, but it ended up losing 72-55.
Shaw (9-8) is 2-4 in the region after Friday’s 94-35 loss to Fayette County.
Today’s games will kick off a busy week for Troup’s teams.
They’ll step out of the region to visit Callaway on Wednesday before finishing the week with two region games.
Troup will visit Alexander on Friday before hosting Sandy Creek on Saturday.
