Basketball is back.
After having two games canceled last week because of the winter storm, the teams from LaGrange and Troup will get back on the court today.
LaGrange’s teams will be at home against Sandy Creek, while Troup will travel to Fayette County.
It will be the first game since Jan. 25 for LaGrange or Troup.
The LaGrange Grangers, who staged a late rally to beat Columbus in overtime last weekend, are hoping to build on their two-game winning streak.
The Grangers (10-10 overall) will bring a 4-5 Region 5-AAAA record into today’s game with Sandy Creek.
Making it three wins in a row will be a challenge, though.
Sandy Creek (15-4 overall) is 6-2 in the region, and it is tied for second with Fayette County.
In the first meeting this season, Sandy Creek beat LaGrange 59-40.
In today’s girls game, the Lady Grangers are looking to start climbing the ladder in the region.
LaGrange (5-14 overall) is 2-7 in the region.
Sandy Creek (8-11 overall), which beat LaGrange 45-35 on Jan. 14, is 4-4 in the region.
Also today, the Troup teams will play for the first time in a week.
In the boys’ game, the Tigers face a major challenge with a Fayette County team that is having a strong season.
Fayette County (14-5 overall) is 6-2 in the region, and it is tied with Sandy Creek for the region’s second spot.
Troup, meanwhile, is 1-7 in the region after last weekend’s 56-45 loss to Sandy Creek.
The Tigers have been competitive in most of their region games, they’ve just had trouble finishing things off.
Callaway’s teams were supposed to host Douglass today, but those games will be played on Monday instead.
