They’ll be strapping on the basketball shoes for a busy week of basketball.

The Callaway and Troup basketball teams, who didn’t play any games last week, will play five games in six days this week.

It’ll also be a busy week for the LaGrange teams, who’ll each play four games.

The local teams are facing a backlog of games this week because of the winter storm last week that washed out all of the games.

Troup and LaGrange each lost two games, while Callaway lost three games.

The hectic week begins today, with Callaway hosting Douglass.

Callaway’s teams will also play on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

“We’ll just have to shoot from the hip,” Callaway boys’ coach Terry Hayes said. “But it’s the same boat everybody else is in. We’ll just see what happens.”

The Cavaliers will be put to the test today against a strong Douglass team.

Callaway (13-5 overall) is 7-2 in Region 4-AAA, while Douglass (14-4 overall) leads the region with an 8-1 record.

Douglass beat Callaway 74-71 earlier this season, so the Cavaliers likely need to win today to have a chance to win the region’s regular-season title.

The Lady Cavaliers (11-7), meanwhile, will bring a 6-3 region record into today’s game against Douglass (5-9, 5-4).

The week continues on Tuesday for Callaway with home games against Central-Carroll.

Callaway will visit Haralson County on Wednesday before taking Thursday off.

On Friday, the Callaway teams will be in Atlanta, with the Cavaliers playing B.E.S.T. Academy, and the Lady Cavaliers playing Corretta Scott King.

On Saturday, Callaway concludes its week at home against Jackson.

LaGrange and Troup will meet for the second time on Tuesday, and this time the location will be Troup High.

LaGrange’s girls’ and boys’ teams won the earlier meetings against Troup.

That’ll begin a stretch of five games in five days for Troup’s teams, and the final four games will all be on the road.

Troup will play Carrollton on Wednesday, Columbus on Thursday, Shaw on Friday, and Sandy Creek on Saturday.

LaGrange’s teams will play again on Wednesday at Fayette County before returning home on Friday to face Carrollton.

LaGrange finishes the week at home on Saturday against Alexander.
