The big day has arrived.
All of the recruiting trips have been completed, and the coaches have made their final sales pitches.
Now, it’s time for the players to put the signature to paper and let everyone know where they’ll be playing college football.
Today is national signing day, and players across the country will be signing their letters of intent.
Locally, players from Callaway, LaGrange and Troup were set to participate in signing-day ceremonies at their schools this morning.
All three schools have multiple players signing, including the Callaway Cavaliers, who are coming off the most successful season in school history.
Callaway went 12-2 and lost in the semifinals to Buford, and a handful of seniors who helped the team come within a couple of victories of a state championship will be headed to the college level, including standout quarterback Tez Parks.
Troup, which finished third in its region to make it to the state playoffs, also has a number of players signing, including running back Daryl Dunlap, who had a phenomenal senior season.
LaGrange didn’t make the playoffs, but it still had a talented group of seniors, and four of them were set to sign this morning.
Included in that group is quarterback Zach Giddens, who played less than a quarter of football during his senior season.
Giddens had offseason surgery, and after recovering from that, he returned for the Grangers’ third game against Thomson, only to suffer another injury that ended his season.
