The LaGrange High boys’ soccer team improved its Region 5-AAAA record to 2-0 with a 2-0 win at Shaw on Friday.
The Grangers scored two goals in the first half, and they made that lead stand up.
Michael Brackett and Kyler Hall each scored goals for LaGrange, and Morat Rosencrants added an assist.
LaGrange goal keeper Michael Coffman had four saves.
On Saturday, LaGrange played a thriller against Stone Mountain and lost in overtime.
It was tied 1-1 through regulation, and neither team scored in overtime, so it came down to penalty kicks.
Stone Mountain made four of its five penalty-kick attempts, and LaGrange made three.
Nick Hinson scored LaGrange’s goal, and Coffman made seven saves.
The LaGrange girls’ team, meanwhile, had no trouble with Shaw en route to a 10-0 win.
Reagan Peters had three goals to lead the Lady Grangers, and Alex Davison had two goals.
Maddie Marshall, Lauren Robinson and Alaina Tomlinson added one goal apiece.
Robinson and Catherine Patton each had an assist.
LaGrange scored four goals in the first eight minutes, and the game ended at the half because of the mercy rule.
LaGrange evened its region record at 1-1.
TENNIS: The LaGrange High tennis teams topped Shaw last week in Region 5-AAAA play.
The Grangers won 4-1, and the Lady Grangers earned a 3-2 win.
In the boys’ match, Clay Dodson won at number one singles, and Garrett Cashwell won at number two singles.
At number one doubles, Canon Skinner and Jas Singh each won, and William Doyle and Tiger Lakhwani won at number two doubles.
In the girls’ match, Katie Graham and Jordan Reese won at number one and number two singles, respectively.
At number one doubles, Jia Lee and Euna Oh won for LaGrange.
Both teams have improved to 4-0.
