One goal was enough for the LaGrange Grangers.

Facing Fayette County in a Region 5-AAAA showdown on Tuesday, the Grangers came away with a 1-0 road victory.

The Grangers (8-2 overall) improved to 4-0 in the region, and they haven’t given up a goal in five of their past six games.

The Grangers have won three in a row, all by shutout, and they haven’t allowed more than one goal in their past nine games.

In Tuesday’s game, Michael Brackett scored a first-half goal for the Grangers, and that one-goal lead stood up the rest of the way.

LaGrange goal keeper Michael Coffman helped secure the shutout with 10 saves.

In Tuesday’s girls’ game, there wasn’t nearly as much drama.

With Reagan Peters delivering a phenomenal scoring performance, LaGrange walked away with an 8-0 win.

Peters scored six goals to help the Lady Grangers (5-5 overall) even their region record at 2-2.

Alex Davison and Lauren Yates each had one goal.

Tori Willis had two assists, and Davison and Maddie Patton each had one assist.

LaGrange’s teams will be on the road again on Tuesday against region foe Sandy Creek, and they’ll return home on March 27 to face Columbus.
