With its tournament hopes on the line, Troup County came out and delivered a dominant performance.

Facing Thomaston in an elimination game in the Dixie Youth Baseball 11-12-year-old District 1 tournament at the Harris Baseball Complex, Troup County rolled to a 9-0 victory.

Troup County advanced to the championship round against Manchester, and the two teams will face off today at 6 p.m.

If Manchester wins, it will be the tournament champion.

If Troup County wins, a winner-take-all game would be played on Wednesday.

Troup County coach Andrew Caraway said his hitters did a nice job of taking what the pitchers gave them in Monday’s game.

“The pitching for the other side was kind of sporadic. It made it kind of hard to get things going offensively, so we just told them to take pitches and wait until you get a pitch to hit,” Caraway said. “The whole lineup, one through 12 did really well. I’m really proud of them.”

Sam Yates got the start for Troup, and he pitched three innings to get the win, and Sam West threw three scoreless innings to finish it.

Troup County got all the offense it needed in the first inning with a pair of runs, and it added three more runs in the third inning.

After scoring single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, Troup County capped the scoring with two runs in the sixth inning.

Colton Webb had a big day at the plate with two hits, including a double, and he also reached on an error.

Bryce Kurian also had two hits, including an RBI single in the sixth inning.

Chance Lester, Cole Crawford and Ethan Morton each had a base hit and a walk, with Lester scoring two runs.

Tanner Jackson was on base twice with a pair of runs scored, and Pierce Butler walked and scored a run in the third inning.

“It’s good to win, especially a shutout,” Caraway said.
