Troup County and the city of LaGrange continues to have a high rate of unemployment and underemployment even after the arrival of new industry. Our greatest needs include workforce development and a consistent career networking venue. Local colleges, H.R. managers, Staffing agencies, the LaGrange Career Center of the Department of Labor, and the West Central Georgia Workforce Development Corp., are joining together to sponsor a new jobs networking event in LaGrange. Career Connect offers a monthly opportunity to connect with the key players in our local employment scene. The event will occur on the fourth Thursday of every month from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. There will be specific networking opportunities, training and coaching sessions, and special presentations each month, as well as opportunities to connect with other job seekers. The first event of 2013 will take place on Thursday, January 24, and will be hosted at New Community Church, 1200 S. Davis Rd. Everyone is welcome to attend.
