A drunken man was apparently beaten in a possible robbery attempt in the 400 block of Daniel Street.

The victim was found laying on the sidewalk next to a broken beer bottle. Police described him as “very intoxicated and bloody” in a report, saying that he was unable to give a description of his attackers, but said they punched him and didn’t take anything.

A clerk at a nearby store said he had ejected the victim from the store earlier when he tried to open a beer inside. The victim then went across the street and fell on the sidewalk.

The clerk said several men gathered around the fallen victim, but ran when the clerk came outside.

The victim was treated at West Georgia Medical Center for scrapes and bruises on his face.

Shoplifting

Two women took a $180 scooter from Walmart on New Franklin Road.

Arrest

Willie Sam Moore Jr., 54, whose address was unavailable, was charged with burglary after an officer found him walking on Mitchell Avenue with a cell phone allegedly stolen in a burglary a few blocks away, along with a bag of T-shirts.
