LaGrange police were still trying to identify a suspect in Friday’s shooting of 15-year-old Ladavious Dozier of Auburn Avenue.

But detective Capt. Dale Strickland said he expects to get a name and issue an arrest warrant by Tuesday.

The teenager, who suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach, was in stable condition after surgery at Egleston children’s hospital in Atlanta.

Strickland said the victim was interviewed at the hospital, but didn’t know the assailant’s name. He described the two as “acquaintances, not friends by any stretch.”

“We expect to be able to talk to the victim more after he comes off the medication,” he said.

Dozier was walking on East Crovat Street about 6:10 p.m. Friday when the assailant came up in a dark car with tinted windows driven by another person. The car left the scene and the man fired two to four shots from a handgun, then fled along a path toward Wright Street.
