Hattie Holle Middleton, 89, of Maitland, Florida, formerly of Hannibal, Missouri, died at 12:02 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2012, in Indigo Palms at Maitland, Fl.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. , Saturday 22, 2012, at Fifth Street Baptist Church in Hannibal. Brother Justin Mosher will officiate. Burial will be in Bowling Green Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, at Fifth Street Baptist Church. Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal is in Charge of Arrangements.
Hattie was born Sept. 4, 1923, in LaGrange, Georgia, a daughter of Charles Austin and Bernice Freeman Holle. She was married in LaGrange, Georgia, on June 4, 1947, to Willard Burton Middleton. He died on November 3, 2000.
Survivors include a son, Charles Willard Middleton and his wife Renee of St. Cloud, Florida; three grandchildren, Charles Jacob (CJ) Middleton, Austin Neil Middleton and Holle Ruth Middleton. A niece and four nephews also survive: Susan Rumble of Lawrenceville, Ga., Everett Holle, Birmingham, Al., Jimmy Finley, Peachtree City, Ga., Charles Finley of Savannah, Ga. and Alan Rambin of Sautee Nacoochee, Ga.; as well as several great nieces and great nephews. Hattie was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters, Fred Holle, Miriam Finley, Martha Lovell, Charlie Sue Rambin, and Helen Lewis.
Hattie was a graduate of LaGrange College in LaGrange, GA. And after moving to Hannibal was a music teacher in the Hannibal Public Schools for over 25 years, in Mark Twain, Central and Pettibone Elementary schools. She was an active member of Fifth Street Baptist Church and enjoyed assisting her husband with his career. In addition to her music, she enjoyed cross-stitch, gardening and tending her flowers. Hattie was Past President and a member of Chapter BR of P.E.O. Memorials may be made to Fifth Street Baptist Church, to Hannibal LaGrange University in Missouri or LaGrange College in the local area.
