Mr. Hiram T. Gregory, Jr., 82, of LaGrange, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Gregory was born March 30, 1930, in LaGrange, son of the late Hiram Thomas Sr. and Annie Elizabeth Morgan Gregory. He was a member of East LaGrange Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. Mr. Gregory was a police officer for the LaGrange Police Department for 17 years and retired as a truck driver from the West Point Pepperell Trucking Deparment.
Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia Gregory Bell and a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Mary Gregory, all of LaGrange; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sherry Gregory of Ringgold; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Andrea Moore, Tracey and Keith Karcher, Dana and Buddy Hancock, Kelli and Raul Ceja, Jill Gregory and Joseph Darda, Jonathan Gregory, and Justin Gregory; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Charles Darden and Faye and Paul Jones; and brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Myra Gregory. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Betty Joyce Gregory; four legged companion, Honey; brothers, Jack Gregory, Raymond Gregory and Gene Gregory; and sister, Virginia Yarbrough.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 Wednesday at the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel with Rev. Fred Buchanan and Rev. Donnie Benefield officiating. Interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The family will be at the home of his daughter, Cynthia Bell, at 112 Cochran Drive, and receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday before the service from 2:00 to 4:00.
