Legacy Museum on Main, 136 Main St. in LaGrange, hosts the exhibit Weddings of West Georgia: Something Old, Something New Feb. 1 to April 20 with wedding dresses, shoes, veils, announcements, invitations and newspaper reports used to spotlight love and weddings in West Georgia from the 1800s to the present. Admission is free. An opening reception and wedding tea is Feb. 16 from 2-4 p.m. The museum is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free of charge. A monthly silent social for people with hearing loss is at the LaGrange Mall food court starting at 5 p.m. for any one who is deaf or hard of hearing, or any person interested in learning more about sign language. Nancy Smith, 706-402-2205

Saturday

A free karate demonstration on from 10 a.m. to noon at the DHA Community Center in Pine Mountain. The center is considering adding karate classes and women’s self defense classes on Wednesday evening, Friday evening or Saturday afternoon. A beginner scrapbook class is offered at the Active Life Center on Ragland Street at 11 a.m. There is no cost for the class. A registration form and supply list can be picked up at the center.

The Salvation Army, 806 Murphy Ave., provides emergency food assistance 9 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 3 p.m. Picture ID and Social Security card are needed.

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Region 6 Regional Planning Board hosts a forum for consumers of services, family members, community provider of services and advocacy groups, professionals, and all region stakeholders to come out and share concerns from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Mike Daniel Recreation Center, 1220 Lafayette Parkway.

The state Board of Education hosts a public hearing at 7 p.m. at the Troup County School System Administration Services Center, 100 N. Davis Road, building C, to get feedback from local residents.

The Joint Development Authority of Meriwether County and city of Hogansville quarterly board of directors meeting is 1 p.m. at Hawg Heaven BBQ, 218 N. Highway 29 in Hogansville.

Saturday Jan. 26

Bridges Out of Poverty training will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Chamber of Commerce. The training is required for all volunteers with Circles of Troup County, a county-wide poverty initiative that helps people in generational poverty move to self-sufficiency. The training is also open to anyone who works with families in poverty, including agencies, schools, churches and non-profit organizations. Cost is $25. Three Rivers Regional Commission hosts a kick-off meeting for the Three Rivers Regional Plan at 2 p.m. The event will be held at the Coweta County Fairgrounds, 275 Pine Road in Newnan, and is open to the public.

LaGrange Serenity Groups and Al-Anon meet at 6 p.m. at Self Help Harbor, 909 Stonewall St.
