A man was arrested Monday after $4,000 in government funds was allegedly used to buy cocaine.

According to a police report, drug agents with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office were referred to a Hispanic male known as “Amigo” by a confidential source for the purchase of cocaine. After investigations, with assistance from the DEA, LaGrange Police Department and West Point Police Department the agents were able to set up purchases on two separate dates by using a confidential informant.

Amigo, later identified as Victor Ayar Verulo, 30, of LaGrange, allegedly sold four ounces of cocaine on two separate occasions using the confidential informant, according the report.

After Verulo was arrested, agents searched residence located on Troup Street.

During the search, agents found over an ounce of cocaine, packaging material and two firearms.

Verulo was charged with sale of cocaine, two counts of trafficking cocaine, three counts of unlawful use of communication facility and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
