J.P. and Deanna O’Connor of Marietta announce the engagement of their daughter, Monica Rachel O’Connor, to Stephen William Garrett Jr. of Alpharetta, son of Steve and Marie Garrett of Alpharetta.
They are set to wed in October at the Catholic Cathedral of Christ the King.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of John and Ellen O’Connor of Cincinnati, Ohio, and J.R. and Janet Huntsberger of Greenville, Dela. She is a graduate of Lassiter High School in Marietta, graduated cum laude from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro with a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting and Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta with a master’s degree in Earth and atmospheric sciences. She is a meteorologist and weather producer for CNN in Atlanta.
The groom-elect is the grandson of Russell and Maria Lewis and Harold and Gloria Garrett. He is a graduate of Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia Southern University with bachelor’s degrees in music performance and information technology and Georgia Institute of Technology with a master’s degree in computer science and human computer interaction. He was a Google Research Award recipient at Georgia Tech and is employed by ZooZ Mobile.
