A man who cut his nephew with a knife was among those who pleaded guilty Monday in Troup County Superior Court.

Tony Wayne Jones, 48, of LaGrange received five years’s probation for aggravated assault after cutting his nephew with a knife from the left side of his temple down to his neck on July 22, 2012, during a fight. There was blood trailing on the floors when officers arrived, and Jones said in court that his nephew received stitches.

Before the sentencing, Jones argued to the judge that his nephew came to his house and kicked in his door, causing the argument.

Also pleading guilty on Monday were:

• Brashaud Quintez Atkinson, 31, of LaGrange, 24 months in Troup County jail and 18 years’ probation for robbing the Summit on Hogansville Road.

Atkinson was involved in a robbery March 21, 2012, where Romelius Raymone Fannin, 37, of Lanett, Ala., allegedly went into the convenience store, threatened to shoot the clerk and took an unknown amount of cash.

• Sarah Renee Smith, 22, of LaGrange, three years’ probation and 80 hours of community service for giving contraband to an inmate without consent on June 20, 2012.

Reports say that Smith wrapped tobacco to give to her boyfriend and inmate Dwon Harris to allegedly sell to other inmates. Harris’ mother was heard on the phone discussing plans to leave the tobacco, that would be wrapped by Smith, in a bathroom of the Troup County Jail. Harris’ mother has already has been charged in the incident.

• Neketia ThyJuand Brooks, 50, of Lanett, Ala., three years’ probation for identity fraud after she used a woman’s identification during a traffic stop.

Reports say that Brooks was stopped by officers on May 27, 2008, for speeding and she did not have a license. She provided officers with the name of another woman, who later received a letter in the mail informing her that she had missed a court date for the incident. Officers traced Brooks back to the crime and she confessed to using the woman’s identity in January 2012.

Thefts, burglaries

• A woman in the 200 block of Givens Circle said that someone stole a green golf cart valued at $5,200 from a barn behind her residence.

• A man said that someone stole items valued at about $200 from the outside of his business in the 2900 block of Hamilton Road.
