Rain from Tropical Storm Ida had dumped 3 inches of rain on LaGrange by midmorning today, and more is expected.

The rain caused several traffic accidents and downed some trees and power lines across Troup County.

The wet weather moving through Georgia could mean more flooding for the rain-soaked state.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for north and central Georgia. Forecaster Kent McMullen said that residents should expect from 3 to 5 inches of rain today. He said some spots could be doused with up to 8 inches.

The downpour is expected to cause some creeks and streams to overflow. But McMullen said the rain is expected to exit the state on Wednesday.

Georgia and Alabama were plagued with deadly floods in September that killed at least 10 people. Weather experts say the flooding was near the top of the worst floods in the United States during the past century.
