Mr. Robert “Joe” Askew of LaGrange passed away Friday.

Mr. Askew, a native of Troup County, was born July 13, 1948 and was the son of the late Solomon and Susie Mae Strickland Askew. He was formerly employed as a forklift operator at Interface. He served in the United States Army. Survivors include his wife, Marie Askew, LaGrange; children: Nikkiya (Leon) Green, LaGrange; Angeline Fuller, Carrollton; Daniel (Jonna) Askew, Medina, NY; Robert Warden, Rochester, NY; six grandchildren; one brother, Frank Askew, LaGrange; uncle, Allen (Mary) Askew, Camp Hill, AL; three aunts, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Bobby Lee; three brothers: Wesley, Eddie Lewis, and Ishmael Askew; and two sisters: Bessie Mae Frost and Martha Ann Askew.

The funeral service will be Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 3:00PM at the Mount Gillard Baptist Church on Cedar Street. Rev. J. R. Ware will officiate. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
