For 12 years running, the CLCP Corporate Spelling Bee has provided an evening filled with fun for everyone.
This year’s edition was no exception. With 12 teams competing for the coveted champion’s trophy, the competition was “unbeelievable” as The Doctors and The Lifesavers were left to prove their spelling prowess. It took two spell-offs to determine the winner but in the end, it was The Doctors who prevailed, winning their second championship. The Lifesavers, representing La-Grange Pregnancy Center, promised to return next year to capture the trophy.
CLCP would like to thank all of the team sponsors. Without their commitment, the 12th annual CLCP Corporate/Community Spelling Bee would not be such a success. Proceeds from the bee and other fundraising events are used to promote and sustain literacy resources in Troup County, including 21 GED Scholarships for deserving students.
We also are grateful to the other individuals and businesses for their contributions of time, talent and financial support and to the fans who came out to cheer for their favorite team.
It was an entertaining evening with great spellers and great cheering sections, but the real winner was the fight to eliminate illiteracy. Make plans to “bee” there next year as we continue our efforts to make education the “buzz word” in Troup County.
