Walter Malone Jr. passed away Thursday, December 13, 2012.
Mr. Malone, the son of the late Mr. Walter and Mrs. Lizzie Mae Gilliam Malone; was born March 7, 1929, in Troup County, Georgia.
He lived in the Gabbettville Community and attended Gabbettville School; later moving to the New Harmony Community where he united with New Harmony C. M. E. Church. He served s a member of the Benevolent Society, a Class Leader, Trustee, and a Steward.
He was affectionately known as “Jr.” or “Malone” by family and friends. As his health declined, he enjoyed watching cooking shows and felt he could cook it all. He loved talking about days of old. His ultimate joy was his mother rising early (4:30AM) to prepare breakfast for him before he went to work.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Malone, LaGrange, GA; 13 children: Lavone Haynes, Dayton, OH; Ronnie (Michelle) Malone, Lee Sumit, MO; Patricia Toomer, Hampton, GA; Cynthia Darby, Columbus, GA; Helene Dennis, Cheryl (L.W.) Booker, both of LaGrange, GA; Debra (Rudolph) Slaughter, Kansas City, MO; Tony Malone, Lanett, AL; Gary (Sandra) Phenix City, AL; Malcom Malone, Lanett, AL; Stafford (Veleeka) Dudley, Hampton, GA; Tara Malone, and Sandra Harris, both of Lanett, AL; siblings: Jessie M. Lovelace, West Point, GA; George Malone, Milwaukee, WI; Lizzie P. Mathis, West Point, GA; Catherine Fannings, Lanett, AL; Jimmie Malone, Milwaukee, WI; Eddie Malone, Berkley, CA; and Johnny Malone, West Point, GA; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM at New Harmony C M E Church with Rev. John Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
