An armed man attempted to force entry into a residence in the 100 block of Buck Murphy Road.

A police report said that officers went to the residence on Wednesday evening at 7:43 p.m. after they received a call that a man with a gun was trying to break into the home.

The victim told police that he heard the front screen door open twice and he yelled out “Who is it?” The suspect replied “J Coal.” The victim then asked who he was looking for, where the suspect then replied the name of the victim’s brother. The victim did not see a car out the front window, but did observe a man wearing a black coat. He opened the front door of his residence and was instantly met with a black hand gun pointed at his face. He immediately shut the front door and locked it, as the suspect began kicking the door trying to get in. The victim ran out the rear door of the residence, and could hear the armed man running behind him. The victim was able to make it to a neighbor’s house to call 911.

The suspect is described as a black male, and was wearing a black ski mask and camouflage hat.

A crime scene was established and the case is still under investigation.
