Mr. Bruce E. McGavic, 60, of LaGrange passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at his home.

Mr. McGavic was born May 14, 1952, in Memphis, TN, son of Claude and Martha McGavic. He worked as a contractor for his own business, Bruce McGavic Construction. He was a Baptist and had a love and passion for fishing and animals. He enjoyed nature and often painted nature scenes. He was also interested in the study of entomology.

Survivors include his parents; a sister, Claudia Bekele, of Jonesboro; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Judy McGavic, of LaGrange; a fiancée, Ree M. Waters, of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 Thursday at the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Jordan officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00 until 2:30. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made in memory of Mr. McGavic to the American Cancer Society or the Troup County Humane Society.
