Drug investigation yields 18 arrests

An ongoing summer drug investigation resulted in 18 arrests.

According to a LaGrange Police Department press release, the LPD’s Special Investigations Unit began an investigation in the beginning of last summer. The investigation was into street-level narcotics dealers who were distributing various narcotics throughout the city.

On Dec. 20, 2012, the investigation climaxed with the execution of two search warrants and numerous arrest warrants that were obtained for persons throughout the city of LaGrange for violations of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act. On this date, 18 people were arrested after the near five-month investigation.

The following people were arrested and charged on Dec. 20, 2012:

Bennie Jones, 58, charged with sale of a schedule IV narcotic and possession of a firearm by a felon; Tommy Newsome, 50, charged with sale of marijuana, possession of cocaine and parole violation; Arthur Nelson, 47, charged with sale of Cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; Ginny Geunther, 41, charged with possession of a schedule IV narcotic, possession of Pseudoephedrine with intent to distribute and probation violation; Damon Carr, 45, charged with sale of a schedule IV narcotic; Henry Ransom, 57, charged with the sale of marijuana; Jennifer Newsom, 31, charged with two counts of sale of schedule IV narcotic and two counts of sale of schedule III narcotic; Leroy Staples, 60, charged with three counts of sale of schedule III narcotics and three counts sale of schedule III narcotic within 1,000 feet of a Drug Free Zone; Shantris Smith, 27, charged with sale of marijuana; Roxanne Reed, 45, charged with possession of Cocaine; Amy Delaney, 36, charged with possession of Cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; Alphonzia Bray, 41, charged with possession of Cocaine; Mario Johnson, 28, charged with two counts of sale of marijuana and two counts of sale of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a drug free zone; Rosa Reid, 43, charged with sale of Cocaine; Christopher Huzzie, 41, charged with sale of schedule IV narcotic, sale of schedule IV narcotic within 1,000 feet of a Drug Free Zone and parole violation;

Thomas Eaton Eaton, 27, was arrested on Oct. 10 and charged with sale of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine; Bryce Wood, 25, was arrested on Nov. 28 and charged with sale methamphetamine; Jeremy Murphy, 25, was arrested on Nov. 28 and charged with two counts of sale of methamphetamine.
