Early voting ended Friday, but at least 25 people still turned up at the Troup County Government Center today to try to cast votes.

Residents could cast their vote early at the Government Center building from Oct. 15 to Friday. A total 11,225 people took advantage of the option.

“It was a very good turnout and I feel the poles will be very busy tomorrow,” said Chief Registrar Amy Hyatt. “Friday was our busiest day – 1,181 people voted then.”

Angie Sams took advantage of the early voting option Friday. As she neared the front of the line she said, “I don’t think it was that bad, I have been only waiting about 30 minutes.”

Polls are open Tuesday, election day, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at designated locations. Individuals’ specific polling locations have been sent to registered voters but that information may still be obtained by calling 706-883-1745 or by going into any precinct and asking.
