John Lewis Thompson, 75, of Columbus, GA, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Muscogee Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, February 9, 2013, at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. A private interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Thompson was born September 29, 1937, in Birmingham, AL, son of the late John H. and Anita Corthell Thompson. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and worked as a Supervisor for Triple Enterprises.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Thompson.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Carolyn Holder Thompson; sons, Skip Thompson (Jennifer), Steve Thompson all of Columbus, GA, Scott Thompson (Michelle) of LaGrange, GA and David L. Thompson of Illinois; sisters, Kathleen Gurley (Royce), Betty Thompson and Sandy Stubbs (Vance) all of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Brannon and Cole Thompson, and Zack and Zoe Thompson.
