The Troup County Sheriff’s Office Monday presented Patrol Sgt. Everette Brockington with the Deputy of the Year award, sponsored by LaGrange Optimist Club.
Brockington earned the distinguished honor through his exemplary service, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
His law enforcement career began with the LaGrange Police Department in 1993, where he worked in the patrol and training divisions.
In 2002, Brockington applied for a position at the Troup County Sheriff’s Office. After his hire, Brockington was assigned to the Patrol Division before transferring to Criminal Investigations. Two years later, he earned a promotion to sergeant and returned to patrol as shift supervisor.
Brockington is a member of the Georgia Army National Guard. In August of 2010, he deployed to the Middle East to play a part in “Operation Enduring Freedom”. Brockington was stationed in Qatar, based out of Kuwait, and was the in charge of the armory’s weapons and ammunition. Brockington returned to the United States in November 2011.
Public Information Officer Lt. Chad Mann said that, upon resuming his duties at the Sheriff’s Office, Brockington has served with distinction and outstanding effort.
“Sgt. Brockington is an invaluable asset to Troup County citizens, the United States of America and the Troup County Sheriff’s Office,” he said.
