Youth of all ages got a taste of fine art and worked on their own projects Saturday at LaGrange Art Museum’s annual “Mess Fest.”
Participants began with a scavenger hunt inside the art museum itself, where they identified certain paintings and other works and won a Chick-Fil-A coupon, their “admission” to the Mess Fest.
“We just want to expose them to different paintings in the art museum,” said Elliot McHugh, education/outreach coordinator.
Children then went from station to station, doing art in the same style as Jackson Pollock and other artists, as well as working on ceramics, painting bubble wrap and painting with actual bubbles dyed with different colors. The result is an amoeba effect, McHugh said.
