Active Life’s members took full advantage of the center’s Feb. 14th Valentine’s Day celebration. Prizes were given for the best decorated dining room tables, for the most creative Valentine’s Day attire and for the overall best dressed individuals.
Leigh Bailey, education and resource specialist, and Christy Hill, transition coordinator, both from Southern Crescent Area Agency on Aging were the guest judges for the event.
Director of Active Life Dan Wooten was the Master of Ceremonies for the program.
“At 11:40 the judges will walk through the dining area and judge the individual tables, after that everyone who wants to be part of the ‘Best Dressed’ and the ‘Most Creative Valentine’s Attire’ contests will be asked to come over to the side to be judged,” Wooten said. “The first, second and third placed tables will be called in that order to get their lunch today.”
With the great variety of decorated tables and nicely dressed individuals, the judges did not have an easy job in selecting the winners.
Margie Richardson was awarded the “Most Creative Valentin’s Day Attire” prize, while Margaret Ross and Dora Cameron shared the title of “Best Dressed.”
For the best decorated tables, first place went to Table #17, second place went to Table #5 and third place went to Table #14.
The members of the first place table were Emma Hill, Betty Thomas, Dovie Bailey, Mable Lindsey, Hattie Bray, Virginia Purnell, Virginia Miles, Evelyn Jenkins and Mildred Smith.
The members of the second place table were Tommy and Linda Buttrum, Pearce and Pat Wyche, Tony Yarbrough, Margie Williams and Mae Sheets.
The members of the third place table were Dorothy Bush, Betty Cameron, Imogene Hammett, Juanita and Clarence Maney and Mary Brown.
A slide show featuring pictures of Active Life members’ loved ones was also shown during the celebration.
