LaGrange police say a suspicious package reported at the Race Trac gas station on Lafayette Parkway on Saturday night was an empty box.
“I think with all of the events that have happened, people are just more concerned,” said police Sgt. Marshall McCoy.
Employees at the store called authorities after seeing the box, surrounded by some papers, near the trash cans about 6:45 p.m. A team from the Department of Defense, which is on call an available throughout the state, was called in to inspect the box before deeming it safe.
