New Georgia ‘boating under the influence’ law in effect
A new law effective May 15 lowers the blood alcohol concentration limit for Georgia boaters. It now requires those behind the wheel of a vessel to have less than .08 BAC instead of the previous .10. Now the alcohol limit for boaters is the the same as motorists on Georgia roads and increases the penalties for those boaters convicted for boating under the influence. Gov. Commission to consider deal for $9.5 million SPLOST bond
County Commissioners on Tuesday are expected to vote on authorizing a deal to use bonds issued by the Troup County Public Facilities Authority to pay for special-purpose, local-option sales tax projects. The commission in February approved bonding several projects to be funded by the current SPLOST to go ahead and pay for them.
