House fire suspected to be arson
A suspicious fire at a home in the 200 block of Dixie Street is believed to be arson. According to LaGrange police, officers responded to the home Sunday at about 11:52 p.m. in reference to an arson that had just occurred. Trucks, loaders and excavators are working to clear the dirt from two tracts of property the city recently purchased next to the LaGrange landfill off Greenville Road. The dirt will be used at the landfill as cover dirt.
Dirt on the move at LaGrange landfill
Finally, the dirt is on the move. Crews began work on Feb. 11 moving dirt from two tracts of land adjacent to the LaGrange Landfill on Greenville Road. The city bought the land for about $500,000, but it’s worth it. The landfill has to be covered with dirt daily to comply with federal environmental rules.
