Dennis Knight appointed new Troup County Fire Chief

After nearly four months serving as interim fire chief, Capt. Dennis Knight was appointed as the official Troup County Fire Department Fire Chief April 8.Knight will also maintain his position as Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director.“It’s a great opportunity for me to serve the community in a larger capacity as both the EMA director and fire chief and it gives me the chance to make sure that our firefighters have what they need to do their job and have what they need to serve and protect the citizens of Troup County,” he said.Knight said he is currently working on a strategic plan looking into the next 10 years, outlining areas that need improvement as he moves forward.
