But while seeing some old friends and colleagues was nice, Friday’s trip to Greenville was of the business variety.
The Lady Cavaliers were playing an opening-round game in a tournament at Greenville High, and they handled Lannett 64-58.
“It’s fun going back. It’s a place where I spent 22 years, plus a former player and assistant of mine is the head coach,” Gilliam said. “But the main thing is trying win every game with the Lady Cavs.”
Callaway will play Manchester at 2:30 p.m. today, with the winner of that game advancing to the championship game at 7 p.m.
If Callaway loses to Manchester, it would turn around and play again at 5:30 p.n.
“I told the girls to get a good night’s rest and ready for a battle,” Gilliam said.
Tersheor Tigner led Callaway with 22 points, while LaQuincia Cameron and Erin Anderson scored 18 and 17 points, respectively.
