Store owner chases theft suspect

The owner of Fuller Select Motors at 1800 Hamilton Road chased a suspected thief driving a tan-colored Ford Taurus down Hamilton Road on Tuesday afternoon. Police said the suspect was loitering in the store while the owner helped another customer. The owner asked the man if he needed help but was ignored.

After the man left the business, the owner discovered $1,000 was missing from a bag behind the front counter. The owner got into his car and followed the man’s vehicle before losing track of it.

Theft

A thief used an object to reach under West Georgia Financial’s locked front door at 159 Commerce Ave., and steal customers’ payments during the Christmas holidays from Saturday to Tuesday morning. Customers slid their payments under the door while the business was closed.

Vandalism

A resident of the 200 block of Cleveland Avenue awoke to the sound of gunshots outside Tuesday night. The woman then saw the headlights of a vehicle which left her driveway, and discovered several bullet holes in her mailbox and her vehicle’s front windshield.

Arrests

Johnathan Flanagan, 24, of Young’s Mill Road was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute after his vehicle was stopped at a routine road block at the intersection of Hill and Fair streets Tuesday night.
