Two children who were treated for injuries they suffered in an accident Tuesday morning on Hillcrest Road are making good recoveries. Candy Smith’s 2-year-old son Kyle was released from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston Thursday and may have an operation on one of his eyes because of a fractured bone, his great-grandfather, Floyd Colson, said. Three-year-old Nick was in stable condition at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite and will be released today.

New Year’s boom

A woman in the 400 block of Whitesville Street heard a booming sound coming from her roof about midnight Thursday. She then saw a hole in the living room ceiling and a copper bullet in a chair. No one else was in the residence.

Burglaries, thefts

n Someone entered a residence in the 4800 block of Hammett Road and stole various electronic items valued at $1,090.

n Someone stole a woman’s wallet containing two credit cards, several checks and a bank debit card from her car in the 60 block of North Cary Street.

n Two digital cameras and $100 cash were stolen in a burglary Thursday night in the 100 block of Turner Street. The cameras were valued at $350.

n A couple’s wallets containing $169 were stolen from their residence in the 100 block of Oak Drive.

n Someone stole a purse containing $910, several credit cards and a driver’s license from a woman’s car in the 100 block of Oakmont Drive.

Arrest

Lanee Hyatt, 41, of Roanoke, Ala., was charged with possession of methamphetamine during a routine roadblock Wednesday at Bartley Road and Baugh’s Cross Road.
