Accident
Narvell Duke, 81, of Hogansville and William Lallerstedt, 42, of Ashton Street were treated at West Georgia Medical Center and released for injuries suffered in an accident at the intersection of Broome and South Lewis streets Sunday morning. Police issued Duke a citation for failure to yield for not stopping on Broom Street at the intersection. Lallerstedt’s vehicle struck the driver’s front side of Duke’s car.
Arrest
Sheldon Mcfarland, 38, of Borton Street was charged with possession of cocaine and obstruction of an officer after stopped while walking crossing the road in the 600 Revis Street Sunday night. Police found a piece of cocaine in a small plastic bag in the suspect’s toboggan.
Shoplifting
An unknown man shopping at Givorn’s Foods at 211 E. 10th St. in West Point Sunday afternoon left the store without paying for two packs of steaks. No arrest has been made.
Fire
A lightning fire Saturday night caused an estimated $20,000 damage to the home of Joseph Haley at 101 Collier St. in Hogansville.
The fire, reported at 8:51 p.m., was confined to the attic and duct work, but there was smoke and water damage throughout the house.
