A part-time better hometown manager could start work as soon as Feb. 2 in Hogansville with a vote planned for Sunday.
The Downtown Development Authority will meet in closed session to make the final choice, chairman Andy Brubaker said.
A search committee interviewed several candidates for the job before the holidays with help from the state Department of Community Affairs. Main Street and Better Home Town Program manager Jo Childers and Region 4 representative Corrine Thornton helped interview candidates.
“After much deliberating, the search committee has narrowed their list down to one (as-yet unnamed) candidate to bring before the board,” Brubaker said.
At the meeting, the rest of the board will have an opportunity to meet and interview the finalist.
The Hogansville DDA has been searching for a new Better Hometown manager since former manager Toni Striblin resigned this fall to spend more time with her family. Striblin is credited with creating or reviving many of the city’s downtown events, including the Christmas parade, “Trunk or Treat” and a haunted house at City Hall during Halloween and a Valentine’s night dinner at Victoria Belle special events center.
