I am proud that LaGrange is my hometown. There is just one thing that I often dream about, that LaGrange could have for the third and last time: a bowling alley/center. Not just a bowling center, but state of the art lanes sitting on a well-lit, safe and welcoming parking lot. A bowling center that is alive every week with leagues. These leagues would be from local businesses, churches and schools. There would be leagues for guys, leagues for gals, leagues for guys and gals. Leagues for teenagers and little children too - gosh, even a league for each of you.
I once bowled on a league from a large organization and besides the great friendly competition between co-workers, we developed friendships. Many of us worked in different departments for many years and didn’t really even know each other before the league started.
LaGrange needs a bowling center that is active in education and coaching, and also in community activities. A bowling center could be very active in various types of fundraising. Every few months we could have tournaments of all kinds that would be fun for all, not to mention bringing in tourism.
Maybe the center could have an excellent restaurant and create a wonderful meeting place and a place to have birthdays and other celebrations.
To any developers out there, please don’t make the mistake of building another bowling alley in LaGrange, but please consider building one for LaGrange.
