Keep Troup Beautiful would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2009 Annual Christmas tree and Electronics recycling program on January 3. Whether you donated a tree, electronic equipment, or volunteered your time to help with this event, we really appreciate your support. As a result, over 300 Christmas trees were collected in LaGrange, West Point, and Hogansville, and were either mulched or dropped in lakes and ponds for fish habitats, and approximately a ton of electronics were diverted from our landfill.
We want to say a special “thank you” to our local sponsors - Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Troup County and the cities of LaGrange, Hogansville, and West Point - as well as the many volunteers, including the entire Troup High School baseball team and their coaches, who helped to make this event a real success in spite of the rain and heavy fog. Statewide sponsors were the Georgia Department of Community Affairs and the Keep Georgia Beautiful Program, Home Depot, WXIA-TV, and the Davey Tree Expert Company, along with The Georgia Forestry Commission who partnered with the program and provided KTB with over 150 seedlings.
Thanks again for helping to make Troup County a “greener” place to live.
Doris Jefferson
Executive Director, Keep Troup Beautiful
