She was born January 17, 1952 in Greenville, Georgia to the late Mary and Eddie B. Hall Sr. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1971 and furthered her education at Fort Valley State University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 1975. To enhance her teaching profession, Mary Alice studied at Mercer University and Fort Valley State University and obtained a Master of Science Degree in Middle School Education. As a consummate educator, she received teaching certifications in Early Childhood Education and Middle Grades Education. In addition, she completed Post Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership in School Administration from Cambridge College, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mary Alice taught in Georgia public and private school systems for more than thirty-three (33) years and retired from E. W. Oliver Elementary School in Clayton County, Georgia in August 2011. She believed that all children can learn and that educators should meet students’ educational needs and challenges through innovative teaching. She demonstrated her passion for teaching by providing a creative environment for students to learn and excel. Mary Alice was preceded in death by her siblings: William and Calvin D. Hall. She leaves to cherish her memories, two sisters: Shelby J. Hall, Decatur, GA and Martha L. Crenshaw (Tony), MD; two brothers: Eddie B. Hall II and Robert L. Hall Sr., Decatur, GA; and sister-in-law, Marie Hall, Decatur, GA; three nieces: Alvera Thomas, New York, Nicole Hall, Florida, Angela Crenshaw, MD; nine nephews: Eddie B. Hall III (Letitia), Arizona, Leonard Hall (Shunetta), SC, William Hall Jr., Michael Hall, Torrance Hall (Jerika), Robert Hall Jr., GA, Bryant Crenshaw, MD, Nijah Hall, Derrick Hall, New York; nine great nieces, and six great nephews; aunts: Mrs. Essie Strozier of Atlanta, GA, Mrs. Beatrice Porter of Hogansville, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 1:00PM at the Louise United Methodist Church, Hines Road, Hogansville. Rev. Jairo Gay will officiate. Burial will be in the Beasley Cemetery.
