Workers remove trees at LaGrange High School to make way for a 33-classroom addition scheduled for completion in about two years. The three-story project, financed by the special sales tax, will eliminate 27 parking places, but about 60 will be added by demolishing the old Evans residence next to the school. Bill Parson, assistant superintendent for Troup County schools, said the estimated $11 million addition will accommodate projected growth spurred by the Kia Motors auto plant assembly plant in West Point. Enrollment may grow from a little more than 1,300 currently to 1,600, the maximum allowed by the county Board of Education for any high school.
