4-year-old girls die in apartment fire in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) — Two 4-year-old girls believed to be cousins have died in an apartment fire in Columbus.
The children were identified as TraNiyah Rogers and Lapora Parkman.
Deputy Fire Chief Greg Lang said firefighters were called to the scene shortly after 4 a.m. on Friday, finding the apartment in flames. He said the fire was extinguished “fairly quickly.”
Lang said the parents of one of the victims were in the apartment when the fire began, but they escaped without injury.
He said the cause of the fire has not been determined.
