Perrin Alford has been named provost of the newly merged college. He will be responsible for overseeing operations of five campuses and will serve as the chief operating officer for the merged college.
Another West Georgia Technical College leader, Linda Jones, was named vice president of economic development of the merged school.
Alford and Jones were named as members of the senior leadership team for the merged school, which will be named West Georgia Technical College.
Other members of the leadership team for the merged school will be Dawn Cook, vice president of institutional advancement; Eddie Gore, vice president of student affairs; Pat Hannon, vice president of academic affairs; Greg Nelson, vice president of administrative services; and Richard Robinson, vice president of adult education.
Skip Sullivan, current president of West Central Technical College, was named president-designee by the Technical College System of Georgia in December.
“I could not be more pleased with the level of expertise this senior leadership team brings to the College,” Sullivan said. “Together they offer the combination of education and experience needed to make West Georgia Tech the best technical college in the state - and that is our goal.”
Additional personnel announcements are expected to be made in February.
Sullivan said the senior leadership team will lead the merger steering committee to facilitate the merger process. The merger steering committee has developed design teams of about 50 faculty and staff members from both colleges.
Alford previously was vice president of student affairs at West Georgia Tech. During his career, his responsibilities have included oversight of admissions, financial aid, marketing and advancement.
Alford completed a master of business administration at Mercer University and currently is a doctoral candidate at the University of Alabama. He is a TCSG Executive Leadership Academy graduate and is active in his community.
Jones has more than 30 years’ experience in human resources, customer service, training, consulting and economic development. She is experienced in directing multi-level departments, managing a large contingent workforce, supervising a diverse customer base and introducing unusual incentive programs. She developed relationships with all levels of management in such industries as distribution, manufacturing, utilities, consumer services and governmental programs.
Jones has served as a human resources specialist for a local Board of Education and later as a regional manager for a large human resources company in the Atlanta area with yearly revenues in her area averaging $10 million to $12 million. She has worked with a consulting firm developing and delivering short term training for government and private industries.
She has been an active participant in economic development for in West Georgia. She has received awards in areas such as quality service, team building and customer service. She is active in volunteer organizations, civic clubs and local chambers of commerce.
Jones holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of West Georgia and is working toward a master’s degree at Troy University.
