STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (AP) — DeKalb police say the driver of a sport utility vehicle will be charged with vehicular homicide and other offenses after a 7-year-old boy was struck and killed walking in a crosswalk near a crossing guard.
Police identified the boy as Kameron Dunmore. He was killed near Princeton Elementary School, not far from Stone Mountain, about 7:30 a.m. Monday. Police believe the driver of the SUV was taking her own child to a different school.
DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parish says the driver, 40-year-old Shirley Ogilvie, was taken to a hospital for observation. Parish said Ogilvie would be charged with vehicular homicide.
The child was pronounced dead on the way to a hospital. No other children were in the crosswalk.
