Georgia Southwestern State University

AMERICUS — Kristeen Thrash of Hogansville graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus during the spring 2012 commencement ceremony held May 5 in Convocation Hall of the Student Success Center. Thrash earned a bachelor of science in sociology and was one of 300 graduates.

Georgia Southwestern State University is a public, four-year unit of the University System of Georgia with 3,050 students.

Wofford College

SPARTANBURG, SC — Emily Anne Smith of LaGrange obtained a bachelor of arts degree in government, minor in economics, concentrations in political thought and world politics from Wofford College at its 158th commencement exercises on May 20. She was one of 306 graduates.

Wofford College, established in 1854, is an independent liberal arts college of 1,550 students in Spartanburg.

Georgia Tech

ATLANTA — The Georgia Institute of Technology presented degrees to about 2,500 undergraduate and graduate students during the institute’s 242nd commencement exercises. Local graduates include:

Julia Turner of LaGrange, who received a BS in science, technology and culture .

Georgia Tech is a research university providing a focused, technologically based education to more than 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
