HAMILTON, Ga. (AP) — Four defendants charged in the 2008 murders of a west Georgia couple pleaded guilty and were given lengthy prison sentences.
Harris County court officials said 19-year-old Dereck Cox and 22-year-old Kevin Thomas McKay entered the plea agreement at a hearing Friday in Superior Court.
Both pleaded guilty to murder, robbery, burglary and theft by taking. A judge ordered Cox and McKay to each serve life in prison.
The two admitted their roles in the June 28, 2008 slayings of 57-year-old Sherlene Robinson and her husband 61-year-old Jerry Church. Prosecutors said the couple were murdered in their Waverly Hall home.
Two other male co-defendants, a 17-year-old and a 14-year-old, each received a 20-year sentence.
A fifth person awaits sentencing.
