It was quite a debut for Troup High freshman Jordan Vann.
In his first varsity game, Vann scored five goals to lead Troup to a 9-0 victory over Carver in the season opener Monday.
“He’s a kid who loves a challenge,” Troup coach Glenn Quiggle said of Vann.
Also for Troup, Nathan Stein scored two goals, and Sean Malloy and Woosang Kim scored one apiece.
Tyler Hancock and Ashton Hudson combined for the shutout in goal.
Quiggle said the team has “worked real hard in practice,” so he wasn’t surprised to see the Tigers play well Monday.
The Tigers visit Kendrick on Wednesday in another Region 2-AAA game.
