BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) — The state has suspended the license of a Brunswick veterinarian arrested in January on charges stemming from the illegal dumping of a dead horse.
Dr. Richard Stobaeus Jr. was charged on Jan. 7 with the illegal disposal of a dead animal in a wooded area off U.S. 82 in western Glynn County.
The Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine voted last week to suspend his license.
Stobaeus has claimed he was wrongly charged with disposing of the horse. He says a person was supposed to take the dead horse to a lot where he had permission to dispose of dead animals, but dumped it on the wrong tract of land.
He has 14 days to request an expedited hearing on his suspension.
