Troup Superior Court Judge Allen Keeble on Tuesday dismissed charges against Arthur Demartino Barrett, 19, of West Point because the defendant filed a demand for speedy trial on Oct. 17 and wasn’t tried at that time or at the next term of court.

Barrett had been indicted on two counts of motor vehicle theft, theft by receiving stolen property and driving without a license.

Also Tuesday, Lawrence Clifton Footman Jr., 42, of Atlanta was sentenced to three years in prison for being in possession of a 2006 Infinity he should have known was stolen and trying to steal tires from a car at Larry Rich Nissan in LaGrange. He pleaded guilty to charges of theft by receiving stolen property and attempted theft.

Savalas Knight, 31, of Montgomery, Ala., was sentenced to three years in prison, seven years’ probation and fines of $1,850 for possession with intent to distribute marijuana, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Co-defendant Tabitha Yosefine Patterson, 26, of Montgomery received five years’ probation and fines of $2,200.
