Ga. lawmakers consider stimulus impact

ATLANTA (AP) — As Congress puts the finishing touches on a stimulus package, Georgia lawmakers are scrambling to determine how it could reshape the state’s budget.
Georgia legislators are meeting Friday for hours of hearings that focus on what kind of stimulus, exactly, is coming Georgia’s way.
The House version of the plan stood to send some $5.6 billion to Georgia, but there’s no certainty yet how much money the final draft could bring.
And state officials say there’s little indication how the stimulus would impact their tight budgets until the deal is completed. Technical College System of Georgia Commissioner Ron Jackson sighed, saying “It’s a moving target.”
